Lightning

Bolts Look to Strike Down Islanders at Home

Grade A-: Lightning Moneyline (-169)

The Lightning with a less than stelar record as of last play host to the Islanders, who have won six straight and have a record of 9-3-0 in the new year. Tampa Bay’s offense, led by Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point, has been heating up, especially on home ice, where they’ve dominated teams like the Isles. While Ilya Sorokin has the ability to steal games, the Lightning have historically controlled this matchup, winning five of their last seven meetings. With playoff positioning becoming more urgent, expect Tampa to take care of business in regulation.

Lightning Ready to Strike with Convincing Win

Grade: B+: Lightning Puckline -1.5 (+152)

The Bolts , struggling to find some good form, host an Islanders team has been one of the best in the new year. Tampa Bay’s top scorers, including Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point, have been in top form, and the Lightning’s high-powered attack should have room to exploit any defensive gaps the Isles may have. Meanwhile, Tampa’s goaltending, anchored by Andrei Vasilevskiy, has been solid at home, while the Isles’ offense remains inconsistent beyond Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat. Given Tampa’s dominance in recent matchups and their ability to pull away late, they should have no problem covering the puck line in this one.
