Dodgers vs Nationals

Power-packed Dodgers lineup looks ready to crash Washington’s homecoming.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers (4-2) VS Nationals (3-3)

Washington Nationals
Moneyline Pick - Los Angeles Dodgers (-271): B-
The Dodgers bring a 4-2 record and a modest one-game skid into D.C., facing a Nationals club that has cooled off with two straight losses after a 3-1 start. With Emmet Sheehan lined up against Miles Mikolas, Los Angeles gets the higher-upside arm, and this particular matchup has been rough for Mikolas: core Dodgers bats like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani have consistently produced loud contact and multiple homers off him over the years. Even with key Dodgers arms such as Blake Snell and Bobby Miller on the shelf and Washington also missing rotation pieces like Josiah Gray, the depth and star power in L.A.’s current roster give them a clear edge over a young Nationals lineup just getting home from a taxing road trip, so I’m willing to swallow the heavy juice on the Dodgers moneyline at -271, but only as a Grade B- recommendation because of the limited payout relative to the risk. Over/Under Pick - Over 9, (-117): B
Miles Mikolas’ shaky history against this Dodgers core, including repeated multi-homer outings and a bloated ERA in recent meetings, combined with Washington’s early-season scoring burst, pushes me toward the Over 9 at -117. The Nationals have already hung double-digit runs twice on this opening road swing and now bring CJ Abrams, James Wood and a sneaky-deep lineup into a daytime home opener, while Los Angeles rolls out Betts, Freeman, Ohtani and quality depth around them that tends to travel, all against a starter they’ve seen extremely well. Both bullpens have been worked hard—Washington’s after a 10-inning loss in Philadelphia and the Dodgers’ with multiple key relievers on the injured list—raising the odds of late runs, so even though Sheehan’s strikeout stuff can mute the Nats for stretches, I still expect enough traffic and power from both sides to push this past nine more often than not, grading the Over as a solid B play on risk versus reward. Spread Pick - Los Angeles Dodgers, -1.5 (-164): C+
CJ Abrams and Washington’s athletic top of the order make me respect the chance of a one-run game, but when you factor in Mikolas’ prolonged struggles against this Dodgers lineup, a Nationals bullpen coming off back-to-back losses in Philadelphia (including an extra-innings game), and the sheer run-scoring ceiling of Los Angeles, I still lean toward Dodgers -1.5 at -164. If Sheehan can give L.A. five to six competent innings, the matchup history for Betts, Freeman and Ohtani against Mikolas—supported by additional thump from bats like Teoscar Hernández and Kyle Tucker—makes a multi-run margin very live, especially if Washington’s young hitters press in their home opener against a heavyweight opponent. That said, laying a run and a half on the road at this price in the first week of April, with the Dodgers’ own pitching staff thinned by injuries, introduces plenty of variance, so I’m grading Dodgers -1.5 as a cautious C+ value play rather than a full-confidence position. Odds and availability are subject to change. This bet was made at 03/04/2026 09:40
