Blues vs Kraken

The Seattle Kraken lean on home ice and a hot crease to turn St. Louis’ recent surge into a tight, low-scoring grind.

Seattle Kraken
Moneyline Pick - Seattle Kraken (-150): B
With Seattle riding a two-game home win streak and clinging to a top-three Pacific Division spot, I prefer the Kraken side of the moneyline at -150 against a Blues team that’s still below water overall despite winning two of three since the Olympic break. St. Louis just burned Seattle 5-1 behind Dylan Holloway’s first career hat trick and he now has four goals and an assist in two games against the Kraken, but the matchup flips with Climate Pledge Arena energy, last change for Seattle’s depth down the middle (Beniers, Stephenson, Wright), and Joey Daccord’s current edge in form over Joel Hofer. The Blues’ blue line being less than full strength with Colton Parayko day-to-day raises the degree of difficulty against a Kraken top pair of Vince Dunn–Adam Larsson, while Seattle’s scoring-by-committee (Jared McCann, Jordan Eberle, Eeli Tolvanen) has been enough when paired with one of the league’s stingier defensive structures. Given the price implies roughly a 60% win probability and I have Seattle a touch higher thanks to home ice and playoff urgency versus a Blues group playing more of a spoiler role, I’m calling this a solid but not elite edge and grading the moneyline play a B. Over/Under Pick - Under 6 (-125): B+
The total sets up as a classic grind spot, with the Blues allowing just 1.7 goals per game in three outings since the break and the Kraken living in the 2–3 goal range offensively while sitting top tier in goals against, so Under 6 at -125 aligns with both teams’ recent identities. St. Louis has tightened up in front of Hofer despite Parayko’s absence, leaning on Cam Fowler’s heavy minutes and a more responsible Neighbours–Buchnevich–Kyrou line, while Seattle’s push for a playoff berth has Lane Lambert rolling three responsible pairs and trusting Daccord to win low-event games rather than trading rushes. Holloway and Kyrou have clearly shown they can punish Kraken mistakes, and Shane Wright plus the McCann–Beniers–Eberle group give Seattle plenty of finishing, but both prior meetings landed on six goals with one being a blowout, and the combination of playoff-type intensity, travel for St. Louis, and two goalies playing above replacement has me projecting a median closer to 5.3–5.5. With the market shaded to the under but still leaving a bit of room if this stays five-on-five heavy and special teams don’t dominate, I like this as my favorite angle on the board and grade the Under 6 a B+. Puckline Pick - St. Louis Blues, +1.5 (-188): B-
Given Seattle’s profile as a low-event, defense-first home team and the Blues’ recent uptick in structure, grabbing St. Louis at +1.5 on the puckline at -188 makes sense in what projects as a tight one-goal game more often than not. The Kraken don’t typically run away on the scoreboard even when they’re the better side, and their last five have produced only one win by more than two goals, while St. Louis has been competitive in tough buildings thanks to a top-six built around Robert Thomas, Pavel Buchnevich and Jordan Kyrou plus Holloway driving a dangerous third line. Key injuries tilt slightly toward the Blues on the moneyline (they’re without Parayko and relying heavily on Fowler and Broberg), but from a puckline perspective it actually favors them: an aggressive, offensive-minded backend can create volatility yet still keep games within a goal, especially if Hofer continues to track well and the Blues’ power play stays hot. With Seattle’s playoff urgency and home edge still making blowout scenarios very real, the price on +1.5 is a bit rich, so I see this as more of a bankroll-protection angle than a pure value smash and grade the Blues puckline a B-.
